Part of being a qualified and professional counsellor means I have had counselling as part of my training and will be in and out of therapy for the rest of my career when I feel it necessary for my own self care. This is how I know how difficult it can be to take that first step and how hard it can be to continue and shape my practice around what you as individuals need. I also undertake regular supervision every month and hold professional indemnity insurance.
I am a Registered Member of British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) I am bound by their Ethical Framework for Good Practice and subject to its Codes of Practice. I am on the DBS register and hold Certificate from LINK Barnardo's.
I am also an Approved LINK Adoption Counsellor with Barnardo's Adoption Agency whom are registered to provide adoption placement and support services.
Prior to being a counsellor I worked for many years in retail & hospitality before switching career to work with mental health & disability. I began training as a counsellor in 2006. I have been running my counselling & psychotherapy practice full time since 2010, working in a variety of settings as a consultant and therapist (Mental Health Services, Schools, Charities) and have specialist knowledge around working with survivors of sexual and domestic abuse, and I am also registered and trained through LINK to support clients with difficulties linked to adoption or fostering.
